I kicked of my Western States 100 mile pre-race extravaganza with my good friend and client, Shelly Rollison's intimate concert. This was a much needed date night with the hubby (the first since, ummm... I don't even know when- before I was prego!) and then onto Steamboat Springs for some ladies weekend fun playing in the mountains with my friend Erin Hammond. No doubt this training period has been challenging. Life with a baby is demanding emotionally, mentally, and physically! I have had to take more days off than I would pre-mama, although the days I have had on are exceptional. Perhaps it will pay off more than I think! My climbing ability has nearly tripled since, well forever...even 2013 and I'm excited to see what I can do with that. On the downs, I have about 97% of my potential but still feel that will be enough to hold my own. To those who haven't read the reviews.. this is gonna be one of the deepest fields for elite women ultra runners EVER ANYWHERE! :) As I enter my Western States debut, I come in wholeheartedly. I will race with passion, appreciation, and respect for the hot, silent killer course. "Your talent is a gift from God, what you do with it is your gift back to God." ~ Leo B. So as Shelly Rollison makes her debut and reveals her musical talent to the world, I feel I need to do the same. God has given me a gift and I will use it to the best of my ability!
