Wish there was a magical way to help you feel better?


I've got a few ways and with one, in just a short period of time, my stats are proving it!


Did you know it's scientifically proven that you cannot hold onto gratitude and resentment at the same time?


Resentment is known as the “emotion of justice,” as it is usually accompanied by the sense that we need to hold on to our resentment in order to take a moral stance on unacceptable behavior, treatment, or a condition.


Research suggests that, adjacent to resentment, lacking the ability to forgive and rumination lead to a similar erosion of health. For example, according to neuroscientist Emiliano Ricciardi and his colleagues, people in these states may have trouble sleeping, experience changes in cardiovascular activity and stress-related hormones, and, over time, develop clinical conditions including depression. In other studies, people who cannot forgive tend to experience stress that accelerates the aging process and leads to a variety of diseases. Likewise, rumination has been found to have a negative impact on healthy coping and to be a contributing factor in chronic illnesses, such as heart disease and cancer.


Got ANOTHER injury? ... or How about illness?

Feeling resentment towards a health condition is a common emotional response, especially when it significantly impacts your daily life and well-being.


That impact of unresolved resentment can negatively affect your mental health, making it harder to cope with your condition and potentially hindering treatment adherence.


Muddy Waters...

So let's focus on health conditions, injuries, or illnesses. What if we want to let go of the resentment, get better, but just can't!


Some things to help...


Acknowledge your feelings:

Don't suppress your frustration or anger; recognize that it's normal to feel resentful towards a health condition that limits you.

WHY?

When we allow these complex emotions of anger, bitterness and disappointment to fester for weeks, months or even decades, it can affect our relationships, our ability to trust and our ability to reason with ourselves. AKA it will keep snowballing!!!


Focus on what you can control:

Instead of dwelling on what you can't do, concentrate on managing your health through education yourself and applying what you learn! (ps.. guess what, we aren't in control of everything.. for me, I get to a point where I have to let go and let God... but not without a fight (education, application, TRYING for what may be in my control).


Practice gratitude:

Make a conscious effort to appreciate the positive aspects of your life, even when facing health challenges... there is no one that is as sick of this as me!!! BUT.. I have to admit, always making an effort to see what I do have, what I can do, continues to play out in my favor.


Educate yourself:

Learn as much as you can about your condition to feel empowered and make informed decisions about your health. Not just decisions but how you could possibly improve your circumstances!!! I DID!! SEE BELOW!


Build a support network:

Lean on friends, family, and support groups who can offer understanding and encouragement... PRO TIP!!!! Who are your people and HOW are they shaping you? You've also heard this one before but I must warn you that some support groups, people, and even family fall into the trap of VICTIMIZING and you want to steer clear of that! Sometimes the support can also fall in a hole of resenting you for your health conditions...


Quick things to look for with a HEALTHY SUPPORT system.

  • Are they around even when things get ugly and you need someone to wipe your butt? (okay kind of made that last part up but it is somewhat true)

  • Will they tell you that you have a big booger? Okay no, really though, honesty is a great thing!


A mix of emotional support, practical assistance, honest feedback, active listening, understanding, reliability, and the ability to celebrate successes (ever have that so called friend that never goes out with you when you accomplish something good because they are jealous?)


Why Resilient Spirit?

Michele Yates' word of the year 2025.. (more like phrase).. WHY?


Resilient - (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.

Spirit- a force within a human being thought to give the body life, energy, and power


  • My resilient spirit meaning rooted in Christ.. My resiliency is a gift from God. I don't doubt that, but I believe you have it too. But it doesn't matter what I believe, you have to believe it too. LET GO AND LET GOD...

  • Why did I choose it.. well because once again I will be up for surgeries with long recovery periods. So much so that I'm not even making racing goals this year but will plan to put on an epic show in 2026!

  • First up a hysterectomy mostly due to adenomyosis (anyone else? it can be common) but several other issues as well... then off to Australia for ceramic on ceramic total hip replacements! 8 weeks recovery for the first, 6 months for the later... but the best part of it all... I may be faster than I ever was before! I will be back to playing soccer, and shoot maybe even a little wrestling!

  • As you can see, I have a choice, victimize, whine, blow up, be depressed, (not that I am not annoyed or happy with my medical bills), or give what I can to God, have trust that he's got me, and educate and help myself the best I can on the rest!


Now for the Stats, How am I getting through right now, and education.

BEMER allowed me to recover greatly!

Check out the yellow, that is when I started using Bemer mat 20 minutes a day - NO OXYGEN ISSUES!

My sleep quality has gone through the roof! Even with my nightly breakdown, my deep sleep has tripled! (it was like 10 minutes a night, horrible!) ps.. it's supposed to be about an hour.


I don't have evidence for my hips except for those around me knew how much I started to struggle. Sure, I've heard I can place the extra attachment around my uterus and it may help that too (but honestly, I'm too impatient and with the tight timeline I'm in right now with my hips, I have to make a decision now and cannot wait, otherwise the hip surgeries will also be postponed...and although it would be TOTALLY awesome if Bemer could reverse arthritis, I don't think that is the case for me at this point!) I could not complete my strength training, my pt exercises, or run. I now can do all of those things (although the running I'm still keeping in moderation- every other day in hopes that I make it to surgery and do so strongly!).
